Always crossing the same paths
Never turning down a challenge
Always having each other's backs
Before the sun sets in the summer
After the heat dies down in the fall
Before boys become men and strong
After girls are women and get their menstruals
With each fiber of my being
Without pain and without grief
With every laugh and every flow
Without crying out in relief
Under all the lies and fakes
Above all else that is true
Under the crystal clear sky
Above the ocean which is blue
Nothing else could be clearer
Everything feels joyous with you
Nothing else could take your place
Everything is wondrous and new
Tender when it counts
Tough to protect the weak
Thick-skinned and protective
